This Charter defines different types of ERIM status that gives researchers automatically the right to specific benefits. In addition to that, ERIM may recommend the Dean(s) to give (small) research vouchers to individual faculty members for a specific reason. One example would be faculty members, very close to finishing their PhD, who could receive a 0.2-fte voucher during a limited period of time (one year).

There is an appeal procedure for persons whose application for ERIM membership is refused. The Committee of Appeal consists of two (former) Professors with a strong track record in research in management (not currently employed at Erasmus University) and one legal expert. This Committee can be asked to give a judgement whether or not the management of ERIM has applied correctly the rules defined in this Charter.
