Holland Programme on Entrepreneurship (HOPE)

The Holland Programme on Entrepreneurship (HOPE) is on of the six regional “Centres for Entrepreneurship”. These Centres of Entrepreneurship are centres where universities and business meet and collaborate. HOPE is a collaboration between the Erasmus University Rotterdam, Delft University of Technology and the Leiden University of Technology. This project is initiated to build up a strong structure for stimulating entrepreneurship in Zuid-Holland. HOPE is cooperating with the ‘Kennisalliantie Zuid-Holland’. HOPE serves as the link between outstanding performance in science and technology (Leiden, Delft, Erasmus Medic Centrum) on the one hand and business, economics and entrepreneurship-insides (Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus School of Economics) on the other.

Based on analyses of the current education system in comparison with the ambition and potential of the three partner universities they concluded that there was a lack of connection and unification for entrepreneurship in the whole education path. HOPE will give the current situation a whole new swing. By setting up a consistent program they want to inspire students and open up new horizons. HOPE’s ambition is to increase quality and innovate education by creating a challenging content, practical and learning environment. Second, the programme wants to stimulate an entrepreneurial culture among the students. By doing so, HOPE tries to achieve that students as well as teachers are going to think in terms of economic exploitation and utilize the individual and combined skills and knowledge.
To achieve her goals HOPE will develop some activities where universities, business and government will be united. The cooperation partners are able to bundle knowledge and skills and exchange and share this with students. With this cooperation between universities and business HOPE will intensify and anchor the external effect of these initiatives on regional, national and international knowledge economy.
