Management Team
INSCOPE is lead by a management team with four members, one from each of the founding partners of the institute:

Prof.dr. Henk W. Volberda
Erasmus University Rotterdam
Chair and Scientific Director

Henk W. Volberda is Professor of Strategic Management and Business Policy, Chairman of the Department of Strategic Management & Business Environment and Vice-Dean of the RSM Erasmus University. He has been a visiting scholar at the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and City University Business School, London. Professor Volberda obtained his doctorate cum laude in Business Administration of the University of Groningen.
His research on organizational flexibility and strategic change received the NCD Award 1987, the ERASM Research Award 1994, the Erasmus University Research Award 1997, Igor Ansoff Strategic Management Award 1993, Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Strategy Award 2003, the Erim Impact Award 2003 and 2005 and the SAP Strategy Award 2005. His work on strategic renewal, coevolution and new organizational forms has been published in Academy of Management Journal, Management Science, Decision Support Systems, European Business Forum, European Management Journal, European Management Review, International Journal of Disclosure and Governance, International Studies of Management & Organization, Journal of Management Studies, Long Range Planning, Omega, Organization Development Journal, Organization Studies and Organization Science.



Prof.dr. Andries de Grip
Universiteit Maastricht

Andries de Grip heads research in training and work at the Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA), and is a professor of training and the labour market at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration of Maastricht University. His research interests concern labour market dynamics; HRM; the relationship of technological developments to training requirements and participation; training and mobility; competence development; training obsolescence; and employability. He has led a large number of research projects on labour market developments, labour mobility, training and informal learning, HRM policy and so on for various ministries, the European Committee, the OECD, the business community and numerous other organizations. He is the author of more than 120 publications in scientific journals and books, including Applied Economics, Oxford Economic Papers, Economics Letters, Research Policy, International Labour Review, and the Journal of Forecasting.

Dr. Fietje Vaas
TNO

Dr. Fietje Vaas is affiliated with TNO Quality of Life, department Work and Employment as programme manager. The programme she currently manages is named: Innovation that works. In this programme senior researchers from several core areas are participating and cooperating. Her focus is on smart and flexible work organizations and room for the innovative powers of staff. Fietje started her career at TNO in 1986. Before that she was employed by the Dutch trade union (NVV, FNV) for thirteen years. The first period of ten years at TNO she has been project manager of various complex projects in which she performed research and consultancy for large and medium sized companies and for governments. The themes she elaborated in these projects were: the quality of working life, new forms of work organization, sociotechnical systems theory, lean production and BPR, productivity, work load, stress and proactive stress management. The second period of approximately ten years she performed line management jobs at various levels. The recent period Fietje operates as senior strategist managing the mentioned research programme and playing a role in the – by her and other partners founded – Dutch Centre for Social Innovation. She published many articles and books, mainly transferring research findings to users: managers and workers.

Prof.dr. Aard Groen
Universiteit Twente

Aard Groen is professor of Innovative Entrepreneurship and scientific director of NIKOS, the Dutch Institute for Knowledge Intensive Entrepreneurship at the University of Twente, the Netherlands. Groen’s research interest is focusing on knowledge intensive entrepreneurship in networks. NIKOS research contributes to the IGS, Institute for Innovation and Governance Studies, where Groen is leading the research on “Innovation & Entrepreneurship”.

He published in journals and books e.g. Journal of Management, International Journal of Small Business, Creativity and Innovation Management. Topics are positioned in entrepreneurship, marketing, university-industry interaction and innovation & technology dynamics. Groen is also head of department NIKOS from the faculty of management and governance, in which the chairs of entrepreneurship strategic management, marketing, and international management are positioned. Groen received his master in public administration from the University of Twente, and his Ph-D on business administration from the University of Groningen.
