INSCOPE brings together leading researchers from the relevant fields. INSCOPE was founded by Erasmus University Rotterdam, Maastricht University, TNO and University of Amsterdam. INSCOPE is affiliated with the Dutch Center for Social Innovation (NCSI) and the closely connected to industrial firms and service organizations (both large firms and SMEs). This close link to unions, employers’ federations and various other relevant organisations facilitate the diffusion and implementation of the knowledge created by INSCOPE, and the application of best and next practices in organizations in the Netherlands and abroad.
The mission of TNO is to apply scientific knowledge with the aim of strengthening the innovative power of industry and government. The combination of developing, integrating and applying knowledge differentiates TNO from other knowledge institutions.
By encouraging the effective interplay of knowledge areas, TNO generates creative and practicable innovations: new products, services and processes, fully customized for business and government. The 5 core areas (‘Kerngebieden’) are: TNO Quality of Life, TNO Defense, Security and Safety, TNO Science and Industry, TNO Built Environment and Geosciences, TNO Information and Communication Technology.
TNO is - with more than 4300 staff members - active in the business of innovation and is primarily concerned with the application of knowledge to improve the competitiveness of companies and to assist governments with policy matters. Knowledge development on Social Innovation appears to be necessary to become more successful in this mission.
The Network Social Innovation (NSI) focuses on social and organizational innovations to improve the development and use of talent and know-how and ultimately firm performance. NSI believes that this can only be achieved if science, business and social organizations join forces. By focusing research on issues that firms and social organizations face in real life and by studying these issues with a scientific approach, we will be able to gather knowledge about social innovation processes that are of direct importance to the economy.
