The International Purchasing Survey (IPS) is designed to investigate, in various countries around the globe, how companies define their purchasing strategies, what are their purchasing skills and capabilities, how the purchasing activities are carried out and what the resulting performances are. The objective is to set up a permanent data collection program in different countries to establish a common database regarding the purchasing function. These data will be used strictly for research purposes.

The survey will take approximately 30 minutes and is divided into the following sections:

  • Firm descriptives
  • Purchasing improvement programs
  • Purchasing organization and capabilities
  • Category selection
  • Category characteristics
  • Category strategy
  • Purchasing processes
  • Purchasing tools and techniques
  • Category performance
  • Demand market characteristics
  • Business objectives and performance

Questions should be answered by the Chief Purchasing Officer or a Purchasing Director or equivalent.
