Erasmus @ Work
Erasmus @ Work is a multi-year, multi-client, multi-departmental research program at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. It involves a team of experts and researchers from the departments of Decision & Information Sciences, Personnel & Organisation, and Marketing Management.
Our research program develops knowledge and insight about new ways of working and provides answers to corporate questions taking into account the pervasive use and impact of new technologies for cooperation. Our five research themes are: 1) Impact of new and sustainable work; 2) Ecological behaviour and mobility; 3) New media communication repertoires; 4) Self-organising; and 5) Transition Processes. Collaboration and co-creation
We collect data via interviews, online surveys, and by analyzing secondary material such as white papers, websites, and internal company documentation. Since 2007, we have measured the work dimensions and performance of approximately 4,000 unique knowledge workers at companies such as Athlon Car Lease, Essent, Microsoft, Rabobank, Royal Haskoning, Sogeti, TNT, TopForce, and Vakbond de Unie.
A substantial part of our research is conducted in cooperation with graduate students of RSM. These students use our New Worlds of Work Framework measurement instrument, and combine company-based research with a solid theoretical background for their thesis. Over the last four years, 18 students have succesfully graduated from RSM with the help of Erasmus@Work:
- In 2007: Wieteke Dupain, Robbert Engels, Ferdinand Kieboom, Marcel Legerstee, and Vincent Vermeulen
- In 2008: Rinze Bajema, Dayenne Calter, Yvonne Duits, Lodewiek Janssen, and Sotiria Koutsopoulou
- In 2009: Pim Baas, Jekaterina Jaroslavceva, Nick van der Meulen, Yana Todorova, and Daniƫlle Wahle
- In 2010: Bojan Blazevic, Hugo Kamps, and Kees Winters
