Current Research

Theme A: Systems Thinking and Corporate Sustainability This theme is comprised of two sub-themes; The role of companies in the dynamics of social and ecological transitions, as well as Big cities and Corporate Responsibility. Here, the central research question is: how do firms participate most effectively in the societal transitions needed for increased sustainability?
Theme B: Sustainability and Corporate Values in Action Sustainable leadership and Sustainability and corporate core values are examined and researched under this theme. We ask why some companies are leading in corporate sustainability, and others lagging? Are the pressures to achieve sustainability stronger for certain types of companies? And are there industry-specific factors at play which make it harder for some than for others?
Theme C: Environmental Entrepreneurship From a novel vantage point, this research theme explores how ‘market failures’ create entrepreneurial opportunities that combine positive environmental outcomes with sound economic value creation, and it seeks to understand the role of entrepreneurship in balancing the interests of profit, people and planet.
Theme D: Alternative Energies and the Framing of Policy Choices Using the European Union strategy on biofuels as our example, this research study aims to shed light on the institutional decision-making processes lying behind the adoption of such large-scale technologies.
Theme E: Social Movements and Climate/Sustainability One of the hottest areas of research within management theory lies at the intersection of organizational theory and theories of social movements.
