ERIM Report Series: Research in Management

Make your work visible. Submit your (working) papers to the ERIM Report Series. You may also submit the author version of (accepted) papers. The submission includes the name of the journal or book the paper is (to be) sent to (this information is used for acceptance purposes only and not published in the report). Publication of a report in the ERIM Report Series requires the approval of the Scientific Director of ERIM.

Copyrights remain with the author(s). ERIM is permitted to archive the report in the Digital Academic Repository and to disclose it through the ERIM website and international academic repositories like REPEC and SSRN. The ERIM repository is harvested and indexed by academic platforms like Scopus and ISI Web-citation index at the Web of Knowledge.

Scientific Conferences

ERIM can support the organization in Rotterdam of major scientific conferences with a couple of hundred participants, (co-)organized by one or more ERIM Members, of which the subject is in the domain of one or more ERIM Research Programmes.

The conference should:

  • be of a recognized, advanced academic level
  • have international speakers and participants
  • have explicit professional procedures for the recruitment and assessment of papers
  • be an important medium for the exchange of scientific insights in the domain of the subject
  • enhance the visibility of ERIM

For further details and procedures: MyERIM (members only, you can use your ERNA account)

Editing of Scientific Texts

ERIM can reimburse the costs for the editing of scientific texts. The support of ERIM is oriented towards the perfection of existing scientific texts, in a ‘ready to submit’ stage of development. These texts are to be submitted to international journals or international publishers as articles or chapters in books. Typically this will entail the professional editing of an already existing English text. If another language than English is involved, and / or the complete translation of a text is at stake, special arrangements can be discussed. ERIM can also offer help in finding good editors.

Research Visits (Outward / Inward)

ERIM can support research visits (ranging from a couple of days up to several months) that have the purpose of implementing joint research projects and the writing of papers with colleagues from institutions elsewhere. These visits can be outward bound (an ERIM Member spending time at a host institution) or inward bound (an ERIM Member receiving a colleague from elsewhere). Research presentations during the stay in the host institution are strongly encouraged.s

Data Collection in the Field

ERIM can support the collection of data in field work needed for projects in one of the ERIM research programmes (PhD candidates see ESP for doctoral students below). For data collection in Lab experiments (Erasmus Behavioural Lab (EBL)) see ESP for Lab experiments below.

For further details and procedures: MyERIM(members only, you can use your ERNA account)

Submission Fee for Journals

ERIM can decide to give financial support to ERIM Members in case a P / P* or ISI ranked journal has a ‘Submission fee’ policy for reviewing and / or publishing of submitted articles.

For further details and procedures: MyERIM(members only, you can use your ERNA account)

Personal Research Assistants (PRA)

ERIM Members have the opportunity to receive personal research assistance (PRA). The PRA programme is intended to support members of ERIM in their strategy to reach the best academic journals in our field (P + P*). During the production and submission process of P / P* papers, ERIM Members can ask for support for specific student assistance for targeted quality enhancing activities as, for example, extra literature search, validating actions such as collecting (extra) data, survey-activities, data entry and so on. These quality enhancing activities are often time consuming and exactly for that reason the programme is initiated.

The purpose is that ERIM Members get more facilities for their research activities and that the students can get a true opportunity for gaining research experience. Typical research assistants are:

  • third / fourth year Msc students with an academic interest and the potential of becoming future PhD candidates of ERIM (MSc PRA) and
  • ERIM Research Master students in their second year (Doctoral PRA)

ERIM Support Programme for PhD candidates

Conference visit

ERIM supports a working visit to a conference for a PhD candidate after the positive assessment of the research proposal (first year). Visiting the conference has to be multi-purpose: to develop contacts with international peers in the field, to be informed about the latest developments in the domain. ERIM will sponsor only one conference visit without presenting a paper.

International Job market visit

. Interview invitation(s) for the job market visit should be submitted to the ERIM Officewith the request for support.

Conference participation

ERIM supports conference participation of PhD candidates under the condition that they are presenting a paper. Proof of the paper acceptation should be submitted to the ERIM Office

COURSES

ERIM supports the costs for (short) academic courses provided by external academic networks (for example EIASM). ERIM only supports courses as part of the agreed upon Training and Supervision Agreement (Opleidings- en Begeleidingsovereenkomst).

Data Collection (In the field or in the Lab)

ERIM supports research data collection. This support will only be available to the PhD candidates who have fulfilled their first year’s obligations and with a positive assessment of their research proposal

Scientific and Educational Literature

An amount for a period of four years is reimbursable per PhD candidate.

Working visit to international supervisor

ERIM supports outward working visits to international supervisor for PhD candidates after the positive assessment of the research proposal (first year). In their final year PhD students may ask ERIM for support in financing part of the inward travel expenses of their supervisor in his capacity of supervising / attending the thesis defence.

International Research Study

ERIM supports international study visits of PhD candidates to another academic institution. Candidates in their third and fourth year are encouraged to visit and participate in another international research group in their area of specialization. In this way the candidate is enabled to professionalize his / her international academic peer-relations.

ERIM PhD Series "Research in Management"

ERIM PhD candidates are facilitated to publish their university edition of the dissertation in the ERIM PhD Series on Research in Management. All dissertations in this series will have the ERIM house style cover, which leaves room for an individual touch, dependent on subject and the preferences of the PhD candidate. ERIM covers all costs, based on an overall arrangement with a designer of the cover, an English editor for the final language check and a printer for the actual printing of the book.

Publication of the dissertation in the ERIM PhD Series is open to the following PhD candidates of Erasmus University in the field of Research in Management:

  • PhD’s who have participated in the PhD programme of ERIM
  • Non-ERIM PhD candidates with an ERIM Fellow / Member as (co)-promotor

Final decisions on acceptance of dissertations to be published in the series are made by the Scientific Director of ERIM.
