  • Research proposal awarded by Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI)This month, a public private research initiative called PREFER, is launched to assess when and how patient preferences on benefits and risks should be incorporated in decisions on medicinal products. PREFER is a five year project funded by the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), to evaluate different preference elicitation methods and test them in a clinical setting. The main task of ECMC is leading and conducting WP2: the methodology. [Read more]

  • Vacancy PhD candidate position at ECMC: Currently the centre has a position available for a PhD candidate, for a four year period. The PhD candidate will work on two projects: 1) an EU-funded project (IMI-PREFER), which involves more than 30 profit- and non-profit partners. The main objective of PREFER is to strenghten patient-centric decision-making throughout the life cycle of medicinal products by developing evidence-based recommendations to guide several stakeholders on how and when patient-preference studies should be performed and the results used to support and inform decision-making, and 2) a project funded by the Erasmus University (REI-ECMC). The main aim of REI-ECMC is closely linked to the ambitions of the ECMC to both develop cutting-edge methodological expertise and apply these innovative methods in relevant health and health-care related applications.

  • Summer course: Two members of the ECMC, Benedict Dellaert and Bas Donkers, taught a summer course on Discrete Choice Experiments as part of the Global School in Empirical Research Methods (GSERM) at the university of St. Gallen, Switzerland. PhD students from multiple countries attended the course and they were all very enthusiastic about the mix of theory and hands-on experience they obtained during the course. Upon following the course a number of the course's participants are setting up plans to make a discrete choice experiment part of their dissertation research.

Obtaining insights into patients' preferences in important to reach optimal clinical and policy decisions. This research proposal determines how well stated preferences of patients are consistent with revealed preferences, why these deviate, and how choice behaviour of patients can be better predicted.

  • Erasmus Choice Modelling Centre goes online! Erasmus Choice Modelling Centre has launched a new website to make it easier for those who investigate multi-attribute decisions (researchers), and for those who make multi-attribute decisions (e.g. policy makers, care insurances, pharmaceutical companies) to access choice modelling services and information. The website combines key information about our activities, the people involved and our resources produced.
