International markets for collective pension systems
Demographical, social and economic developments as well as the weaknesses inherent in the traditional retirement arrangements have made a call for the creation or revision of pension schemes worldwide. Dutch occupational hybrid DB-DC pension plans can be taken as an example. These schemes rely heavily on collectiveness and risk sharing and have been shown to have significant welfare-enhancing properties. This project explores the proposition of a hybrid collective pension system toolbox that can be adapted and implemented in economies that are in search of such reforms. The main focus will be on BRIC-countries and countries in Eastern and Southern Europe.
