Designing coordination mechanisms to improve supply chain performance under information asymmetry

Supply chains often perform suboptimally in terms of costs or pro ts because of sel sh behaviour
of rms within the supply chain. The aim of this research is to design coordination mechanisms
to improve supply chain performance. In particular, we are interested in how rms should set
contracts, which specify order quantities and their timing together with a side payment, such
that all rms in the supply chain bene t. One of the complexities in designing such contracts
is the information asymmetry that often exists among the rms. New models and optimisation
methods will be developed to tackle these challenging coordination problems.
