Profile

Taoying Farenhorst-Yuan is an Assistant Professor in Operations Research at the Erasmus University Rotterdam since 2010. She is also an Associate Member of Erasmus Research Institute of Management (ERIM) and a Candidate Research Fellow at the Tinbergen Institute (TI). She obtained my M.Sc. degree in "Computer Science" with Cum Laude in 2005 at VU University Amsterdam. She conducted her Ph.D. research on " Efficient Simulation Algorithms for Optimization of Discrete Event Systems Based on Measure-Valued" at the same university. Taoying's primary research interests are in the general area of stochastic modeling and optimization, in particular, the learning and optimization theory for discrete event systems. Her main application areas include maintenance optimization, service logistics, inventory control and container logistics.
