KPMG Sustainability Thesis award won by Sophie Gaarenstroom


During the 2nd Annual RSM Sustainability Forum Sophie Gaarenstroom has been awarded the KPMG Sustainability Thesis award. While writing her thesis Sophie received feedback from her coach, <link people merieke-stevens _blank>dr. Merieke Stevens, and her co-reader, <link people serge-rijsdijk _blank>dr. Serge Rijsdijk. Her work on 'Socially Responsible Purchasing and its Effect on Operational and Relational Efficiency' received the top award, which included a  €1000 prize. Since 2006, KPMG has been presenting the award, which aims to honour research that combines academic excellence and business relevance on a topic related to the management of sustainability. The award was introduced by jury member Jan van den Herik, Director Strategy & Innovation KPMG, while Jan Bom, Editor in Chief of P+ People Planet Profit magazine, provided background on the jury’s assessment of each thesis (in addition to Mr. Van den Herik and Mr. Bom, the jury comprised  Elfrieke van Galen, Partner at The Rock Group,  and Tim van Kooten, a longtime leader of communications and issue management for such companies as Ogilvy & Mather and Shell).
