The HERACLITUS (Heterogeneous Emerging Research Approaches to Change, Looking Interdisciplinarily at Technology, Users and Systems) Project: Changing Approaches to Change

Speaker

Abstract

The project idea is based on the observation that most of the ways that humans deal with life are based on the assumption that if the world would stand still, then one could find a tidy solution that would fix the problem for good. But the world does not stand still, especially as our interventions perturb it even more. When we recognise change it is largely dealt with as an undesirable, the purveyor of risk, the unnecessary input of chance into our lives. But, we observe, change is omnipresent. So why fight and try to avoid it. Why not take advantage of it? The seminar sets out the project approach using the following definition of Information Systems favoured by the speaker.
