A General Framework for the Influence of System Load on Service Time

Speaker

Abstract

We establish a general framework to explore how system load affects service time. We examine the current published empirical literature for relationships between load and service time. We identify different aspects of load, how they affect different components of the system and what effects they have. If time permits, we give an example using data from ambulance response times in a large urban setting.
