Case Writing Workshop

Abstract

Do you have interesting ideas, rich data, or both that you wish to develop into a teaching case? Rotterdam School of Management Case Development Centre (RSM CDC) together with Erasmus School of Economics (ESE) and Erasmus University College (EUC) are organizing a one-day case writing workshop to help academic staff develop and write teaching cases. The workshop will give you the confidence and equip you with the skill to write your own teaching cases quickly and effectively.

Program:

Before the workshop

We will send you the course material to read. You will decide which idea you wish to develop into a teaching case and bring this case idea to the workshop.

At the workshop

You will gain knowledge on:

  • differences between a research case and a teaching case
  • what makes a good case
  • the mechanisms of case and teaching note writing
  • case release and publishing.

You will also actively:

  • develop the decision focus
  • write the opening paragraph
  • outline the case structure
  • develop interview questions
  • sketch the teaching note
  • make an action plan

After the workshop

You will complete the case and teaching note on your own. Upon request, RSM CDC can give you feedback on your work-in-progress and help to get your final work published.

If you have any questions regarding the workshop, please do not hesitate to contact cdc@rsm.nl
