Prof. Michaéla Schippers is now a CLI fellow!

Prof. Michaéla Schippers has been granted the Community for Learning & Innovation fellowship for the upcoming two years, starting in September 2019. It is a 0.2 FTE position to develop and disseminate innovative learning methods within the EUR. As a fellow, the goal is to improve and renew education. The Community for Learning and Innovation then pays for a portion of the salary of the fellow during these two years, so as to offer them the opportunity to spend more time working on their plan to renew and improve education.

How does Prof. Schippers, together with her colleagues from the Erasmus University Rotterdam (EUR), plan to realize improvement in education? Starting this September, for the period of two years, Prof. Michaéla Schippers and her colleagues will be conducting research on the effectiveness of the goal-setting intervention in comparison to other interventions at EUR. The researchers will be assessing the long-term effects of goal-setting on the academic performance of students, and comparing the effects of different interventions at the EUR on study outcomes. The interventions that will be considered in these studies are the goal-setting intervention, the study choice meetings (SCMs) and N=N. The researchers aim to uncover which combination of interventions will work best for various subgroups of students in terms of study success. The idea is that academic performance of minorities and male students will be most enhanced by the combination of SCMs and goal-setting.

We are curious about the results of these studies, are you? This fellowship serves as a sign of recognition for the goal-setting intervention. Through this fellowship, we can continue improving it!
