Standardisation - A Multidimensional Issue



The presentation will give an overview of standardisation as a multidimensional phenomenon. One dimension of the presentation will address the role of standardisation in the innovation or market cycle starting from basic research to the broad diffusion of products in the market. The other dimension will address the level of analysis starting from the macroeconomic level, over the sectoral or technology level to the micro level of the firm and the individual. Finally, the challenge of multidisciplinarity to analyse standardisation will be raised.
