Biertje?: Collecting and Analyzing Historical Multilevel Time-Series Data on Dutch Beer Breweries

Speaker

Abstract

Across management disciplines there is a growing call for longitudinal and multilevel research designs that take history seriously. Although likely to lead to more rigorous and relevant findings, such research designs are associated with various hurdles associated with the data collection and analysis process. During this session I will talk about (I) the basics of longitudinal data analysis, (II) how to handle collection and analysis of historical data, and (III) how to deal with unobserved heterogeneity in analyzing multilevel data. I will provide an honest account of how I have dealt with these issues in the context of my work on Dutch beer breweries.
