Abstract
In this talk, I will present how the use of functional brain imaging in humans can provide experimental evidence that subjective values -the putative determinants of our economic behaviours- are reflected in a dedicated brain system -with the limbic fronto-striatal circuits as a key component.
I will then illustrate some situations in which this brain valuation system (BVS) interacts with other brain systems in the construction of subjective values, or in the processes translating these values in behaviour. I will end by discussing important properties and biological constraints of value encoding which complicate their decoding but may account for important decision-theoretic anomalies.
