Changes in the ERIM office and management team

We would like to inform you about a number of changes in the ERIM office and management team.

At the end of this month, <link people patrick-groenen>Patrick Groenen will step down as Director of Doctoral Education, having served ERIM’s management team for more than seven years (of which almost five years in charge of the Doctoral Programme). Without going into detail, Patrick’s dedication and efforts have been exceptional and we owe a great deal of gratitude to him for the development of our Doctoral Programme into an internationally attractive programme, with a strong focus on quality. ERIM thanks Patrick for his many contributions to the ERIM Doctoral programme. Until the summer, he will spend a sabbatical at the Statistics Department of Stanford University. We wish him a fruitful research time.

We are excited that <link people dennis-fok>Dennis Fok is joining ERIM as its new Associate Director. Dennis is Professor of Applied Econometrics at the Erasmus School of Economics, and member of the ERIM Marketing Programme. Dennis has been a high-performing member of ERIM since 2007. In recognition of his work Dennis received several research awards, including the ERIM Best Doctoral Dissertation, Outstanding Performance by a Young Researcher, and the Top Article award. We are excited to have him on board in our team.

As of February, <link people finn-wynstra>Finn Wynstra will take over most of Patrick’s tasks on an interim basis. The ERIM Doctoral Programme is at the heart of the collaboration of both schools and we are confident that Finn will work hard on maintaining and strengthening the success of this joint programme. We thank him for his valuable contributions as Associate Director. Finn will continue to coordinate our initiatives in the area of professionalism and integrity in research.

Furthermore, the ERIM office is strengthened with the appointment of <link people erim-management-office>Monique van Donzel as our Policy Director. Monique was senior policy advisor at EUR central and has already played an important role in the 2013 mid-term accreditation. Monique will take over part of the tasks of Wilfred Mijnhardt (who has taken up a part-time position as Policy Director at RSM). During the maternity leave of Natalija Gerşak, Monique will also take up the role of Doctoral Programme Manager.

In summary, this means the following personnel allocation by 1 February:

  • Finn Wynstra, Director of Doctoral Education, a.i.
  • Dennis Fok, Associate Director
  • Wilfred Mijnhardt, Executive Director (0.4 fte)
  • Monique van Donzel, Policy Director / Doctoral Programme Manager a.i.
