Prof. Gui Liberali elected Vice-President for Membership of ISMS/INFORMS
Lately Prof. Gui Liberali, Endowed Professor of Digital Marketing at Rotterdam School of Marketing, Erasmus University and ERIM Fellow, was elected Vice-President for Membership of the INFORMS Society for Marketing Science (ISMS) for the 2018-2019 term. “I am honored to serve INFORMS. I will work hard to help organize activities that strengthen the relationship with current and prospect members in various fields, both in academia as well as industry, in close coordination with the board,” says Prof. Gui Liberali.
Fostering marketing science
INFORMS publishes the premier quantitative journal in marketing (Marketing Science) in the world. The INFORMS society ISMS runs the journal. The goal of this society is to foster the development, dissemination, and implementation of knowledge, basic and applied research, and science and technologies that improve the understanding and practice of marketing.
INFORMS has a remarkable tradition of promoting rigorous and impactful research in marketing science, based on a committed, high-quality membership. Prof. Liberali explains that there are several opportunities for the field. “For example, researchers and practitioners in adjacent fields, such as computer science, have now clearly realized importance of (online) marketing problems, and many are interested in working with marketing scientists. This brings new data opportunities and job possibilities for our PhD students,” he says. “Also, INFORMS is becoming more and more international. This brings great opportunities for marketing departments in the top business schools outside of U.S., such as RSM, and for ERIM and Erasmus as a whole,“ he adds.
The other chosen officers are Prof. Gerry Tellis, USC Marshall (President-elect), Prof. Kusum Ailawadi, Dartmouth College (Secretary) and Prof. Koen Pauwels, Northeastern University (Vice-President of Practice).
