Innovations in Culture Reengineering: Examining the Theory and the Practice of the 3Es Tri-Axial Model

Speaker

Abstract

The underlying assumption connected with successful culture change in any organization, requires three underlying and interconnected conditions:  (1) that an articulated valid theory, model or concept has been developed and is appealing to the organizational stakeholders, (2) that a clear methodology (step by step) on how to implement the concept is provided (3) and, that specific valid and reliable  instruments/tools have been developed to accompany the change. The seminar will describe some innovations in all three conditions with a special focus on the unique 3Es tri-axial model (Dolan & Garcia, 2002 ; Dolan et al, 2006)

The objective of the seminar is to describe the how, why and what of an innovative culture reengineering concept which has some fundamental underpinning paradigms.  The first paradigm argues that in order to succeed in today’s chaotic business environment, a different type of culture is needed (Raich and Dolan, 2008 ). The second paradigm is that everyone can develop a personal life and find or create a work situation imbued with creativity, innovation, meaning and playfulness at work (Ulrich and Ulrich, 2010 ).  Third, that everyone can find relative happiness at work, despite the dour predictions of politicians and pundits (Magala, 2009 ; Ben-Shahar, 2007 ). And, finally, that any manager can and should become a coach, a change agent that facilitates respective culture for its employees, a culture where individual success and happiness is embedded with organizational success (Dolan, 2011 ).
