New Agendas in the Economics of Entrepreneurship: Optimism, Education, Wealth and Entrepreneurship

Speaker

Abstract

Ongoing work in the field of Economics of Entrepreneurship is prosecuting a vigorous, varied, yet interconnected research agenda on several fronts. New evidence is accumulating suggesting that education, borrowing constraints, wealth, and cognitive biases influence one of the most important, but little understood processes in our national economies: that of entrepreneurship. In this seminar Simon Parker will focus three topics in the Economics of Entrepreneurship, including:

  1. optimism and cognitive biases
  2. savings and wealth accumulation
  3. education and entrepreneurship.

The recent progress with respect to these research agendas is reviewed and open questions are suggested as well as new directions for future work in these particular fields.
