The new method of Parcel Handling: TEUN

Winner of the Logistica Audience Award 2009

TEUN is an overall concept for unloading containers filled with loose boxes, based on a smart, unmanned machine, the plQr. This concept has been developed to provide a solution for the often complicated, labour-intensive and expensive methods being used to unload containers. TEUN takes care of the whole process, from checking and registering the products to the palletizing, wrapping and labelling. Thanks to the smart vision system, even the customs inspection can be handled by TEUN. TEUN can also attend to vapour measurements and provide a vapour-free certificate. If necessary, the container rendered free of gasses prior to unloading, in an environmentally-friendly way. Of course, TEUN can be linked to the user’s warehouse management system , in order to enable the goods to be stored in the right place quickly with the correct barcode or RFID-labels.

Expert quote

“TEUN, developed by Ergolog, offers a solution to a problem common to many sectors: unloading containers laden with loose boxes. So far, unloading has mostly been done manually, which is ergonomically undesirable. TEUN full-automatically picks and palletizes boxes from a container. By way of a vision system, the machine is self-supported and can work unmanned. Stacked pallets can also be wrapped and labeled by TEUN. Initially, TEUN will be dispatched together with an operator and forklift to unload containers. The jury considers this concept especially powerful, because the operator is aware of the possibilities and limitations of the machine.”
