Workshop: Sharing Qualitative Research Data and Materials

Speaker

Abstract

In this workshop, we will discuss the challenges of sharing qualitative data and how to overcome them. The workshop will focus on practical steps to prepare data for sharing. Join this session on March 29th in the Q Building at 15:00, as part of the Open and Responsible Science Campaign.

Dr. Eduard Klapwijk, Research Data Steward at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, will take us through the challenges of sharing qualitative research data, what things to consider and how to make sure the data is prepared, so that you can demonstrate the power of your inquiry and that other researchers can re-use your data and materials.

After an introductory talk, we will divide the room into groups and work together on a use case that will help bringing the lecture learnings into practice.

After completion of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Explain the importance of documenting your data and research process for qualitative research;
  • Explain the importance of sharing (parts of the) data and materials for qualitative research;
  • Identify different levels of data processing and levels of data access for qualitative data and materials;
  • And find available resources and support for research data management of qualitative data.
