Abstract
Although behavioural decision-making is a well-established research area in the fields of marketing and finance, applications of these ideas in the area of operations management are still scarce. We use examples in a purchasing context to illustrate some decision traps in operations management. Further, we discuss how mathematical modelling can be used to overcome some fallacies in intuitive thinking.
