Lars Nielsen & Daniel Potthoff Winners INFORMS Railway Application Student Paper Award


 

Lars Nielsen

<link people _blank>Lars Nielsen (PhD Candidate, Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus Universiteit) and Daniel Potthoff (PhD Candidate, Erasmus School of Economics) have been awarded with the RAS Student Research Paper Contest Award. Lars has won the first price, Daniel has achieved the second place. RAS (Railway Applications Section), a subdivision of INFORMS (Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences) sponsors the student research paper contest on Management Science in Railroad Applications.

Nielsen has received the award for his paper entitled “A Decision Support Framework for Rolling Stock Rescheduling” and will receive a $500 cash award, the paper of Daniel Potthoff, Dennis Huisman en Guy Desaulniers

 

Daniel Potthoff

entitled “Column Generation with Dynamic Duty Selection for Railway Crew Rescheduling” has resulted in the second price for Daniel Potthoff, who will receive a $250 cash award. Both award winners shall present there work at the INFORMS Meeting this fall in Washington, D.C.
