Jansen’s main research focus will be on the renewal of organisations, strategic change and organisational ambidexterity.

Jansen: “I am happy with the confidence installed in me to occupy this chair. Corporate entrepreneurship refers to the process whereby firms engage in diversification through internal development. In particular, I intend to create new insights into the subjects of organisational renewal, strategic change and ambidexterity. Then, the objective is to disseminate this knowledge not only with our MSc, MBa and PhD students, but also on a broader level through papers and conferences. Corporate entrepreneurship is very relevant for companies in the Netherlands and abroad. Within an international context, it is more and more important to keep Dutch companies competitive by applying new knowledge. Thus, the insight provided by this chair will be important for Dutch policymakers as well.”

One of the tools that Jansen already developed is the Erasmus Competition and Innovation Monitor – an annual survey involving 10,000 Dutch companies. The Monitor offers new insights into how management and other organisational aspects can contribute to structural organisational renewal.

Justin Jansen is Professor at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. He received his PhD Cum Laude from the Erasmus University in 2005 on the topic of Ambidextrous Organisations. Justin Jansen is Managing Director of INSCOPE – Research for Innovation.
