Ting Li runner-up in Aart Bosman Prize
Assistant Professor <link people ting-li _self>Ting Li won second place in the Aart Bosman Prize competition for her ‘perfectly-executed’ PhD thesis Informedness and Customer-Centric Revenue Management (2009), which provides organisations with tools enabling them to better deal with the information society and its challenges.
According to the jury, the thesis excels in the perfection of its execution. “As no other, Dr. Li is capable of translating known theoretical issues in very in-depth research. Therefore, her conclusions are of an unrivalled high quality,” says the jury statement, which also said that the jury “appreciates the thorough way in which Dr Li set up and executed her research, and expects this thesis will inspire many researchers to follow her path.” The thesis was also a runner-up for the 2010 Accenture-PIM Marketing Science Dissertation Award.
In her thesis, Li argues that through means of information technology, companies nowadays know more about their customers, and consumers are better informed. Customers know exactly what is available at what price and under what conditions. Companies are increasingly responding to this evolution, and offer increasingly customised solutions to customers. In her thesis, Li provides organisations with tools to better deal with the information society and its challenges, and to deal in a strategically correct way with a market that is aware of these possibilities much more than ever.
