So you say you want to lead?! Revisiting leadership research assumptions



The leadership literature is robust and long-standing. This talk revisits two implicit assumptions in the leadership literature to set up two empirical investigations into the barriers people experience that deter their formal or informal leadership.  I will share studies showing that perceived image risk and the challenges associated with leading deter leadership behaviors. I will also present data on two possible solutions to those deterrents.
