Abstract

On August 24th, 2011 (afternoon), the Erasmus School of Economics (Sjoerd van Bekkum), Rotterdam School of Management (Joop Huij) and Robeco jointly organize an international symposium on the added value of actively managed mutual funds.
 
The main objective of the symposium is to present and discuss recent advances in research on the performance of mutual funds. The conference will host four keynote speakers with a panel discussion and ample time for discussion and interaction.

Keynote speakers
  • Martin Gruber served as Nomura Professor of Finance at the Stern School of Business, New York University from 1965-2010. He is currently Professor Emeritus and Scholar in Residence at the Stern School.
  • Hans Rademaker is head of investment at Robeco Asset Management. Mr. Rademaker will talk about the contribution of active management across different market segments and asset classes.
  • Tim Mortelmans is Head of the Supervisory Department at the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM). He is currently responsible for the AFM theme of “asset management: improving the products and the advice”.
  • Eduard van Gelderen is Chief Investment Officer for Capital Markets Investments and member of the board of APG Asset Management.
