Abstract

The development of the Information Technology in every aspect of life has raised significant issues of how Identity and Privacy are managed. This research focuses on the implications the management of Identity and Privacy has on the Business Processes of organisations in the healthcare sector, especially in large hospitals. The research attempts to examine to what extent Privacy and Identity Management influence the decision making processes in a University Hospital thereby providing a model for reengineering the Business processes in order to adapt to the current trends of IT applications in the Healthcare sector. It will survey the effects of the introduction of Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PET) on the hospital management. Furthermore, the research will examine the Social, Financial and Legal aspects and identify the key issues involved in developing a pan European Health Care system.
