A Look at the Research Process through the Eyes of an Editor.” With her work as current associate editor of the Academy of Management Journal and past editor of the Journal of Management, as well as editorial work for several other outlets, Micky Kacmar has gained many years of experience that can provide us a very helpful look at the research process.  In this first seminar she will discuss three important tools, which benefit this process. The presentation opens with tips on developing a research agenda.   From there we move to tips on developing and submitting papers.  The final segment describes ways to improve and hone reviewing skills.

K. Michele (Micki) Kacmar (Ph.D., Texas A&M University) is a professor and the Durr-Fillauer Chair of Business Ethics in the Department of Management at the University of Alabama. Before moving to Alabama, she was on the faculties of Florida State University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Her current research interests include impression management, organizational politics, ethics, leadership, and the work family interface. She has published over 75 articles in journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, and Human Relations. She served as Editor of the Journal of Management from 2000-2003, as an Associate Editor of the Human Resource Management Journal from 1996-1999, and is currently on the Editorial Boards for Journal of Applied Psychology, Human Resource Management Journal, Journal of Managerial Issues, and Organizational Analysis. She has been both an officer and executive committee member of the HR division of the Academy and served on the Board of Directors of the Society for Human Resource Management Foundation from 1993-2000. She is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the Southern Management Association.
